History of CIA vs KGB

The CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) was established in 1947, shortly after World War II.

The KGB stood for “Komitet Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnosti,” which translates to Committee for State Security.

The CIA and KGB rarely operated outside their own countries and primarily focused on internal affairs.

The U-2 incident in 1960 involved a CIA pilot shot down while flying a spy plane over Soviet airspace.

The collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 led to the immediate disbandment of the KGB.
